The Fall & Rise (Maybe) of JPG Magazine.

Back on January 1st, all members of the JPG community received an email saying that JPG would no longer be able to stay afloat as either a print or online entity. See here. While I hadn’t put much of anything up on the site myself, it was one of my favorite places online to go and see what others were doing. I greatly prefer their site over Flickr, which I’ve always found overwhelmingly disorganized and inconsistent in its quality. With JPG, it feels like a tighter-knit community with a higher level of quality across the board. The print magazine was always a treat as well; printed on nice, heavy paper and relatively light on advertising. (Though that last point is likely part of the problem.)

The good news is that according to JPG’s latest blog post, they may still be able to keep the site up and running, having found several possible candidates to buy the site and keep it running. At this point, there is no specific mention that the print version will continue to exist, but it would be a nice win either way if JPG manages to survive in some form or another.
