First update from France

Jump to Comments First update from France

We made it to Nice uneventfully yesterday. The flights from Chicago to Milan and then to Nice were all fine, but felt really long. Neither one of us was really able to sleep on the flights as much as we would have liked, but having an exit row on the plane really helped from a comfort standpoint.

We checked into the Hotel Grimaldi in Nice. Our room is pretty nice and on a semi-quiet street. We’re within walking distance of just about anything we need, so that’s a good thing. Yesterday, we pretty much just walked around, grabbed a bite to eat, and turned in early to catch up with the jet-lag.

Today, we played tourist and took a bus tour around the city. The tour was good because we could get on and off the bus as we saw things we were interested in. It’s a good way to see more of the city since it went to places we would not have otherwise made it to on foot. We visited the Matisse museum for a little while. While the museum itself wasn’t all that great, I’m glad we at least saw it.

Tomorrow, we are taking an all day bus tour that covers Cannes, Monaco and Monte Carlo, and Saint Paul de Vence. While we don’t usually like taking bus tours, for this trip we’re using them as a way to see as much as we can in the short amount of time we have in each city. If we see anything we really want to explore, we can always go back. If we were staying longer in each city, we would probably spend more time exploring on our own.

That about does it for now. Not sure when I’ll next be able to update the site since I’m cheap and trying to use free wifi hotspots, but I’m guessing I should be able to find something when we are in Paris in a couple days.

Check out the Gallery link to see the pictures we’ve taken so far.

Au revoir.
